What is Fervo Energy Cape Station?

Cape Station is an enhanced geothermal system built by Fervo Energy that uses horizontal drilling and multi-stage fracturing, borrowed from shale-oil techniques, to create an engineered underground reservoir in hot rock that would otherwise lack the natural permeability needed for geothermal power. Fiber-optic sensing run down the wellbores lets operators monitor how fluid flows through the fractured rock, so the reservoir can be tuned to sustain continuous, always-on power output.
