Proceed with caution

Why
Per the announcement, RC 1 will be mostly identical to the initial release. REPACK (CONCURRENTLY) adds an online table-rewrite mode, and parallel autovacuum and pg_plan_advice are new in 19. But the official announcement describes bug fixes applied during the Beta 4 period, and the Open Items wiki still shows 11 open issues, including a planner-advice bug megathread, a memory pre-allocation regression and pg_upgrade index-miss reports. GA is planned 4 weeks out (2026-11-19), unless a delay or another release candidate is needed.
Next
Test RC 1 in a non-production environment against your workload and pg_upgrade path (check btree_gist inet/cidr indexes, JIT and max_locks_per_transaction defaults). Re-evaluate after RC 2 (2026-11-12) and GA (2026-11-19), and plan production adoption after GA.
