- Why
- The physics result is real and measured: the arXiv preprint reports a single carbene molecule with 38(2) MHz optical linewidth, over an hour of spectral stability, XY8-decoupled T2 of 2.2(3) ms and T1 of 21(2) ms at 4.5 K. But it is a single-emitter platform demonstration. The hard parts that make a quantum computer (multi-qubit entanglement, gates, collection efficiency, wafer-scale deposition) are undemonstrated. The HyperLight integration is an announced collaboration with a Q4 2026 prototype target, and HyperLight's own site does not mention it. The roadmap to 1,000 logical qubits by 2030 rests entirely on company claims. This is worth watching for the Q4 2026 prototype results, not for planning around.
- Next
- Check for the Nature version of record and any NVision/HyperLight on-chip demonstration data by end of 2026; look for two-molecule entanglement, collection efficiency numbers and independent replication.
