Track; not yet

Why
Both relay demos reached orbit on 2026-10-20 as part of NASA's 2022 $278.5M CSP awards (Viasat $53.3M, SES $28.96M), but they show no results yet: no data rates, bands or link metrics have been published. The Viasat demo launched later than its early-2026 target, and SES's earlier end-to-end test, before its flight demonstration, gave no performance figures. The substantive uncertainty is on-orbit performance. NASA states a plan to gradually retire TDRS and move future low Earth orbit missions to commercial services, so this is worth tracking, but there is no evidence yet to act on.
Next
Watch for NASA/Viasat/SES on-orbit results over the coming weeks (data rates, latency, availability across GEO/MEO links), the CSP testing through 2027, and the NEXUS down-select planned for early 2027 (Phase 1 awards were expected in September 2026).
