Proceed with caution

Why
IBM has consolidated discovery, code scanning with CycloneDX-aligned CBOM output and a hybrid-crypto proxy into one branded suite, backed by an internal deployment (about 5,815 repositories, 47M+ lines of code, 3,900+ issues found), a free trial and marketplace purchase paths. The suite branding dates from 2026-10-27, but it builds on earlier products (Explorer was part of IBM's May 2023 Quantum Safe portfolio and Guardium Cryptography Manager was introduced in 2025), so the components have a longer history than the launch. Independent evidence of outcomes is thin: the strongest numbers are IBM's own, no pricing or GA terms are stated, and an analyst argues discovery is never finished and that basic discovery is becoming a feature. The July 2026 Explorer bulletin (63 third-party CVEs fixed in 2.3.2.0) shows that version pinning and patching matter. It is usable now for inventory and CBOM generation, but is not proven as an end-to-end migration engine.
Next
Run the free trial on one representative repository set, require Explorer 2.3.2.0 or later, compare its CBOM output with the open-source CBOMkit/CycloneDX baseline, and ask IBM for the supported algorithm, language and hybrid-mode list and pricing in writing
