Why
The release (Business Wire, 2026-10-19) and coverage agree on what ships: open-source CoCo plugins linking Fortanix CCM (attestation) and DSM (FIPS 140-2 Level 3 HSM key release), composite CPU+GPU attestation, SaaS/on-prem/air-gapped deployment. The base layer is real: CoCo became a CNCF incubating project on 2026-07-08, and upstream CoCo documentation lists NVIDIA GPU examples. But every Fortanix-specific claim is vendor-sourced, the survey is vendor-commissioned, and no independent benchmarks, customer deployments or multi-cloud support matrix exist yet. Useful for regulated or sovereign AI pilots, not yet proven at scale.
Next
Run a pilot on one CC-capable GPU node with a non-sensitive model, measure TTFT and throughput overhead and attestation startup latency, and compare against the upstream CoCo Trustee path plus NVIDIA's reference architecture before committing to the commercial plugin layer; re-check for independent reviews and customer references after GTC Berlin (2026-10-20 to 22).
