What is OceanWell Blue Water Farm (subsea RO pods)?

OceanWell's Blue Water Farm consists of sealed reverse-osmosis desalination pods placed directly on the ocean floor, where the surrounding water pressure at depth assists the filtration process and reduces the electrical energy needed to push seawater through the membranes. Freshwater produced inside each pod is pumped up through a pipeline to shore, offering an alternative to land-based desalination plants that avoids much of their onshore footprint and brine-disposal challenges.
