Micron produces a PCIe Generation 6 data-center SSD, a solid-state drive that connects to the host system over a PCIe Generation 6 interface and roughly doubles the per-lane data-transfer rate available to earlier PCIe Generation 5 SSDs. The faster host interface lets the drive sustain higher sequential and random read/write throughput for storage-intensive data-center and AI-infrastructure workloads that would otherwise bottleneck on the link between the SSD and the server's processor.
