What is MatterGen?

MatterGen is a generative AI model that designs new inorganic crystal structures from scratch by learning the statistical patterns underlying known stable materials, rather than screening through an existing database of candidates. A user can guide the generation process toward materials with specific target properties, such as a desired chemistry, symmetry, or electronic characteristic, and the model proposes novel crystal structures likely to satisfy those constraints.
